SAIN Chinese symposium second meeting held in Beijing


      SAIN Chinese symposium second meeting was held in Yong¡¯an Hotel, Beijing, China on June 10, 2010. The meeting was chaired by Liu Zhongwei, the director of Division of European Affairs, Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture of the People¡¯s Republic of China(MoA). The representatives at this meeting from Center of International Cooperation Service, Ministry of Agriculture(CICOS), Norwest A&F University(Secretariat Offices and WG1), China Agriculture University(WG1), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Engineering(WG2), Institute of Environment and Sustainable development in Agriculture(WG3), Agro-Environmental Protection Institution (WG4).
       At the meeting, Dr. Liu Zhongwei provided an overview of the China-UK Sustainable Agricultural Innovation Network(SAIN); Dr. Yao Xiangjun from the Department of International Cooperation offered some suggestion and advice according to the development of SAIN. Meanwhile, the 4 working groups co-chairs introduced the WG¡¯s progress, further plans and present problems to the meeting members. Finally, The China office of SAIN Secretariat, Tong Yanan introduced the SAIN situation and the future plans.
      All the representatives reached an agreement on the development of SAIN during this meeting. The detail as follows£º
1¡¢China and the UK should carry out substantive cooperation to promote mutual understanding.
2¡¢Establishing SAIN cooperation fund to startup the eight projects which has identified as soon as possible and having a specific ratio of the two sides.
3¡¢Regulating the procedures of project application, review, approval and launch.
4¡¢Secretariat should strengthen communication with the every group of experts, organize all kinds of academic exchanges and enrich collaborative network¡¯s activities to enhance project impact.
5¡¢Giving more publicity to SAIN.
6¡¢Establishing a sound co-operation mechanisms and setting up committee on transfer of technology to ensure the sustainable development of the project.
7¡¢Personnel training should be considered as the important issues of SAIN.
